Capitalization

I typically capitalize all words referring to race or ethnicity.

I am aware that the detail of which things get capitalized or not capitalized in English is often interpreted as an expression of disrespect for certain groups and in American usage, "white" as an ethnicity is typically not capitalized while other references to race or ethnicity typically are capitalized.

You are welcome to view this as a personal quirk.

My mother was a German immigrant and didn't want to teach me German, nonetheless I somehow absorbed German grammatical rules and I tend to capitalize more words than I'm supposed to. I also wrestle with which two-word phrases are written as one word and which as two, plus how in the heck to annotate it so other people understand what I'm saying without some jerk on the Internet calling my attempts to logically group words within the brain-damaged English rules "scare quotes."
